Suspected suicide attackers have set off a car bomb near a police station in central Turkey, killing one policeman and wounding nearly 20 civilians.
Turkey's interior minister, Idris Naim Sahin, said two suspects sped through a checkpoint Friday and detonated the bomb outside a police station in the town of Pinarbasi in Kayseri province.
Sahin said police spotted the car in neighboring Kahramanmaras province, where it ignored calls to stop at the checkpoint. He said security ...
French President Francois Hollande says he plans to pull all of his country's 2,000 combat troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year, but that France will continue to support the war-torn country.
During an unannounced visit to Afghanistan Friday, Hollande said some 1,300 other troops will remain in the country in a support role. They will be training Afghan security forces and looking after equipment.
The newly-elected French leader said the early withdrawal will be closely ...
Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi was not his Islamist group's first choice for its presidential candidate. But he got the job when the Brotherhood's lead candidate was disqualified and then became a front-runner in a show of the group's political muscle.
During the campaign, Morsi delivered fiery speeches and vowed his presidency would be based on Islam but not be a theocracy.
Morsi was born in the Nile Delta in 1951 and received an engineering degree ...

Watersport Locations
The heart of Rhode Island is Narragansett Bay, a sparkling body of gentle ocean water which is considered the state's greatest natural resource. Bountiful fishing and shellfishing, challenging sailing conditions, quiet coves and wide, sandy beaches make the bay ideal for water sports. For more than 50 years, 12-meter yachts competed on the bay for sailing's prestigious America's Cup, earning host city Newport the nickname "Sailing Capital of the World."
Boating Enthusiasts
With over 400 miles of coastline, it's no wonder that boating is one of Rhode Islander's favorite pastimes. Each season, more than 100 boating related events are held on the Rhode Island and Block Island sounds and Narragansett Bay. Maritime events and attractions include weekly yacht club regattas, trans-Atlantic ocean races, canoe and kayaking tours, international boat shows and nautical museums.
Always obey the rules of the waterways and to contact local harbormasters with any questions. The United States Coast Guard is available for emergencies and may be contacted on Channel 16 or at their local stations. Also, boat towing services may also be contacted on Channel 16.
Currently, a boating license is not required to operate a private vessel in Rhode Island waters, however boating clinics and classes are offered in several local towns. Remember the importance of being a responsible boater. For more information contact the Boating and Safety Coordinator at 401-222-2284.
