A Voice of America reporter has been detained in the Ethiopian capital while trying to cover a demonstration Friday.
Witnesses to the arrest said that reporter Peter Heinlein and his translator Simegineh Yekoye were detained while seeking to interview protesters during a Muslim demonstration following Friday prayers in Addis Ababa.
Another Western reporter said there was a heavy police presence at the demonstration and that he also was stopped by police and told to leave the area.

Free Stand Up Paddle Surf Demo Days
Thanks for supporting the free demos! It's been a blast all year to have such a friendly, positive group on the water having fun!
As we change seasons, we're changing our days. See below for details.
For those that have an interest in racing, we have a 1 mile course that we can run during demos at the site. It's easy to run and should be a lot of fun.
The water has finally warmed up and daylight savings time is back so we will be hosting free Standup Paddleboard demos almost every Wednesday through October from 5pm until dark.
Demos will be at Keegan Clair park in Indian Rocks Beach.

Phase One: Explore and Educate
Be a part of our Kitesurf Ground School to learn everything you will need to know in order to progress and practice this exciting sport safely. The 3 hour class will give you the tools and information that you are looking for in order to be successful and safe. Topics will include gear selection/explanation, wind assessment, weather assessment, riding area/launch assessment, safety protocols, rescue scenarios, wind window theory, power strokes, board theory using a live simulator, upwind theory, and riding theory. A huge focus is on safety and educating yourself about what to do when things go wrong. You will also receive a detailed packet for you to keep that includes tons of literature to get you through that first year of riding. You will also receive on CDROM a detailed Tampa Bay Ride Guide covering 14 locations throughout Tampa Bay detailing popular places to kiteboard with important information about each spot to keep you safe and on the water for many years to come. This will be an important tool in planning your first sessions on the water.
Class meets at Watersports West and we offer several meeting times. Call Steveo to schedule your seat as space is limited.
